Biopolitics, epidemiology and public health exhibition in Vienna

After four years of renovations, the Josephinum was restored to its former glory and opened its doors to the public on 29 September. It houses a medical history exhibition with a contemporary focus, spanning a wide range of topics including biopolitics, epidemiology, and public health.
It’s a must-visit place for health professionals and the general public who are interested in pandemics history and how these were managed. The exhibition includes objects such as maps of different outbreaks in Vienna, a vaccination set from 1876, prevention measures in the late 18th century, and a certificate of the first COVID-19 vaccination in Vienna.
The museum also includes an impressive wax models exhibition as well as a collection of the history of medicine in Vienna and Austria in general.
